Fort Collins, Colorado

Local, and it matters

Why Fort Collins drivers tint

Plenty of our regulars are Fort Collins drivers — CSU students, Harmony Rd commuters, and Old Town locals who would rather have the work done right than done nearby.

Fort Collins drivers spend a good part of the day pointed at the foothills, which means low, direct sun coming down Harmony and Drake in the afternoon. Campus parking around CSU is mostly open lot with no shade at all, and an interior that sits in that light all semester fades in a way you cannot undo. Factory glass already blocks most UV, so what people notice after tinting is the heat and the glare, not the color.

Between the altitude and 300-plus days of sun a year, a vehicle parked around CSU, Horsetooth Reservoir, Old Town Square and the Harmony Rd retail corridor takes a beating. Dashboards crack, leather fades, and the cabin turns into an oven by noon. Window tint is the cheapest fix for all three — and the only one that also cuts glare on Harmony Rd, College Ave, Timberline Rd and I-25.

We tint for every Fort Collins neighborhood, including Old Town, Midtown, Harmony, Timberline, Fossil Creek, Campus West and the Front Range Village area, plus ZIP codes 80521–80528.

Colorado tint law, in short

Front side windows must let at least 27% of light through, and the windshield 70%, plus a tinted strip whose bottom edge sits no more than four inches down from the top of the glass. Rear glass can go darker — but only while the fronts and windshield are still at 70% or better, so once you tint the fronts the rears are held to that same 27% floor. No mirrored or metallic finishes on any window.

The limits are identical in Fort Collins, Larimer County, and everywhere else in Colorado. We confirm a legal shade with you before any film goes on — read the full breakdown of Colorado tint law, including what happens at inspection and how VLT is actually measured.

Fort Collins questions

Window Tint FAQ

How much does window tint cost in Fort Collins, CO?

Advanced Carbon starts at $119 and Premium Ceramic at $169 for two front windows. Full-vehicle tint starts at $329 for sedans and trucks and $379–$449 for SUVs, crossovers, and vans. Every Fort Collins customer gets an exact quote confirmed before we start.

Do you come to Fort Collins, or do I bring my vehicle to you?

We tint in our controlled shop at 7352 Greenridge Rd, Unit C10 in Windsor — about 20 minutes from Fort Collins. A dust-free bay is the single biggest factor in a flawless install, which is why we do not tint in driveways. Most Fort Collins customers drop off in the morning and pick up the same day.

Will tint cut the afternoon glare coming down Harmony Rd?

Yes, and it is the main reason a lot of Fort Collins drivers book. Low sun off the foothills comes in through the side glass, where a sun visor does nothing. Any film reduces that glare, though ceramic is the one that also cuts the heat you feel through the window on the drive.

How dark can I legally tint my windows in Colorado?

Under C.R.S. 42-4-227, front side windows must allow at least 27% light transmittance and the windshield at least 70%, plus a tinted strip along the top of the windshield whose bottom edge sits no more than four inches down. Rear side windows and the back glass may go darker than 27% only if the front windows and windshield are still at 70% or better — so once you tint the fronts, the rears are held to that same 27% floor. Mirrored and metallic finishes are not allowed on any window. We confirm a legal shade with every Fort Collins customer before installing.

What is the difference between ceramic and carbon tint?

Both block 99% of UV and neither will fade or turn purple. Advanced Carbon rejects up to 65% of infrared heat and is the value pick. Premium Ceramic rejects up to 85% — a noticeably cooler cabin and far less glare on Harmony Rd, College Ave, Timberline Rd. If heat is your problem, go ceramic.

How long does window tinting take?

Two front windows take about 90 minutes. A full vehicle runs roughly 3 hours for sedans and trucks and 3.5 hours for SUVs and vans. Most Fort Collins customers book a morning slot and drive home tinted the same day.

Will tint interfere with my phone signal, GPS, or defroster?

No. Our carbon and ceramic films are completely non-metallic, so cell signal, GPS, radio, toll transponders, and your rear defroster grid all work exactly as before.

Can you remove my old bubbling or purple tint?

Yes. We strip failed factory or aftermarket film, clean the adhesive and defroster lines properly, and install fresh film on prepped glass. It is a common job on older Fort Collins vehicles.

Is the tint warrantied?

Yes — a manufacturer-backed lifetime warranty against fading, bubbling, peeling, and discoloration. Leave your windows up for 3–5 days while the film cures, then clean with a soft cloth and ammonia-free cleaner.

“Zach did a thorough and professional repair to the windshield of my 2019 Toyota RAV4 at a FRACTION of the cost I was quoted at Safelite. I will never go back to the “name brands” when an identical repair handled by an attentional-to-detail small-business is available. Very pleased!”
Kurt MacDonald · Verified Google Review
★★★★★
“My parents had their windows tinted at Adams Auto Restyling and highly recommended them, so I decided to bring my car in as well. Zach was great to work with and provided professional, high-quality service from start to finish. They tinted all the windows on my SUV, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. My vehicle looks sleek, and I’ve noticed a huge difference in heat and glare when driving in the sun. I was so impressed that I’ve already booked an appointment for a full interior and exterior detail, including a ceramic coating to restore the shine and protect the paint. Highly recommend!”
